After the War ... |
After the war, Nick married his first love, Effie and together they raised two children, Nikki and Chris. They moved to Clearwater, FL in 1960 from PA. They also resided in Miami. FL for 10 years. After 38 years of marriage, Effie passed away from cancer in 1985. Nick worked in the insurance industry for most of his career, primarily for Gulf Life Insurance Co.
After losing Effie, Nick married Ann (now deceased). He enjoyed speaking to students throughout the area regarding his experiences as a POW. Throughout the years, he belonged to numerous civic organizations. He also volunteered as long as he was physically able at the VA Medical Center In Bay Pines. He remained active in several POW organizations until his death in February 2015.
